In the quest for the perfect nights sleep it is so easy to get overwhelmed with information. There are so many options out there. Is it a firm mattress you are looking for? Do you want firm with a little give? Do you want something soft that you can snuggle into but will give you the support you need? What is your price range? Heres the big question: Does your partner have the same needs and desires as you when it comes to the type of mattress you choose? Thats a tough one. This is definitely not a purchase to jump into without doing proper research and giving all options full consideration. With so many different types of mattresses and so many different price points how can you even begin to decide what is best for you? Ill tell you from personal experience it takes a lot of research and leg work and also a fair amount of luck that youll be as comfortable after that first nights sleep on the new mattress as you were resting on it in the showroom.
Here are some of the common mattress types available now. It is amazing how things have changed from just the simple inner coil that most of us grew up with. You can now have those inner coil wrapped individually inside the mattress. These are called pocket coils. The coils in this type of mattress all move independently so you dont feel your partners movements very much. Continuous coil distribute weight more evenly over a larger area so there is less stress on the coil making your mattress keep its shape longer than some of the other types. Another mattress type is the popular foam style. Memory foam was originally created to relieve astronauts of the g-forces experienced during lift-off. They wanted a foam material that would conform to shape and then return to its original shape after pressure was removed. You will find that there is an extremely wide range of manufactures, ideas and price points out there when you start looking into foam options.
Finally you have your air and water type mattresses. Water mattresses have come a long way from the water beds we remember from years ago. Now there are multiple chambers containing water inside the foam and fabric resembling a more traditional mattress. This style is most popular for the ability to be warmed and cooled depending on where you live. Air mattresses (very common in hospitals and nursing homes) are great for displacing body weight to help alleviate pressure. An air mattress can be adjusted repeatedly until it is exactly what you are looking for that particular resting period. Once you finally decide on your perfect mattress style youll discover the enormous range in prices. Your work has only just begun.
