Celebrities Gone Wrong

The pressures of fame and fortune in a pre-adolescents life can cause them to associate and hang out with an older, rowdier crowd of people, but Lindsay Lohan has been going far beyond the norm for some time now. Lohan has been seen on multiple occasions hitting the clubs and partying with stars like Paris Hilton and Nicole Ritchie. There have even been rumors that her outings have become more of a nightly activity instead of a weekend unwinding. As you can probably guess the main attraction to these parties is not only the loud music and lively crowds, these nights are also filled with drugs and alcohol abuse.

Due to the choices that Lohan has made she is known through the tabloid for her alcohol abuse problem. Lohan has been in and out of different alcohol rehab centers at least three times so far. She always goes in with a positive attitude, but she has not been able to find the will power that she needs to resist the temptations that are waiting for her when she gets out. At this point, she may do better to enter herself into a long term drug rehab program and allow a quality team of professionals to assist her for more than the 30 day detox period.

Unfortunately, the best alcohol rehab program will not do Lohan any favors unless she makes some real changes in her lifestyle; namely, the crowd she runs with. A rehab center may only be a temporary retreat from the “real” life of Hollywood, which will put her back into the same situations, places, and people that got her addicted to alcohol in the first place. Hollywood celebrities and artists are notorious for the same substance addictions from which she needs to leave.

In modern society, it’s almost become expected to see our celebrities and role models using and abusing narcotics and alcohol. The athletes we all cheer for, the celebrities we can’t wait to see in the movies and even the upper levels of high society. While all of these people love to use, the difference is in why they choose to. For athletes, it’s a matter of success; they have to be the best, and the best way to do that is by taking steroids, pumping up their muscles and stomping the competition. In the case of celebrities, to get the best jobs, they have to hob-knob with other successful people and those parties always include special treats. If that wasn’t bad enough, the boredom caused by having too much money causes members of high society to turn to chemicals for artificial enjoyment. The only consistent threads are that someone is always there to help the user fall further into drug and alcohol abuse, they eventually consider it a part of normal life, and they require a major event to get them into a drug rehab program.

One of the biggest parts of being in the spotlight is that when you need help, everyone knows, and when you look like a fool, you only want to hide until it all blows over. This is the point where the celebrity enters a private drug rehab and begins the arduous process of cleaning their system. While this may seem simple, they have to keep a low profile while they undergo the difficulty of detoxification. To do this, the celebrity must choose an exclusive drug rehab facility that can allow them private space and additional care, creating a safe environment while they are in chemical abuse therapy.

While it may seem unfair that celebrities are able to live in luxury, even while going through addiction treatment, but the recovery period is far from a walk in the park. The point of many of the exclusive drug rehab facilities is to provide a safe haven while the social icon returns to a life style that doesn’t include chemical dependence. This includes keeping their private life a secret while on location, allowing them to interact with necessary people and providing guidance to help them determine how best not to fall into the same trappings.

Unfortunately, many celebrities fall into a cycle where they see rehab as a way to detox the chemicals from their system, but they never get the help necessary to stay away from their addictions. Since they decide that it’s more important to get back to work than to correctly solve their problem, they never enter long term drug rehab and eventually relapse into their old habits, thus requiring another visit to an elite rehabilitation clinic, more money on cleaning their system, and more public humiliation. Maybe someday they’ll learn their lesson.
